Greater Louisville Council of the Blind

The Greater Louisville Council of the Blind (GLCB) is a chapter of the Kentucky Council of the Blind. GLCB has blind, visually impaired and sighted members throughout metropolitan Louisville, including Jefferson and surrounding counties in Kentucky and Clark and Floyd counties in southern Indiana.

GLCB Roundabouts

The Greater Louisville Council of the Blind sponsors a Roundabout each Friday from 3:30 to 10:00 PM at United Crescent Hill Ministries in Louisville.

Whether you are just losing vision or you've been blind or visually impaired for a long time, you'll make new friends, learn new skills, and have lots of fun at GLCB Roundabouts.

Roundabouts provide peer support and help people learn to live with vision loss. You'll discuss topics such as labelling, shopping and matching clothes; choose activities like learning to read and write braille or growing your family tree; get tech tips and support for iPhones, iPads, Androids and other accessible technology; play cards and Bingo and other table games; learn crafts and much more.

Each week's schedule includes a group discussion on a timely topic. Participants share tips on solving day-to-day problems encountered by people who are blind or visually impaired. Some Fridays include special activities such as live music or a guest speaker.

GLCB acts as an advocate for people who are blind or visually impaired. We can be especially helpful on transportation issues, pedestrian safety, and questions related to education and rehabilitation services. GLCB advocates for expanded training and job opportunities for visually impaired adults, improved services for seniors over age 60 who are just losing their vision, and better public transportation for people who cannot drive.
