Northern Kentucky

The Northern Kentucky Council of the Blind serves Covington, Florence, Newport, Erlanger and surrounding areas. The chapter meets on the second Thursday of the month by conference call; meetings may occasionally be held at local restaurants.

NKCB also participates in community events to raise public awareness about vision loss, and advocates for improved services in the area.

NKCB received a $1,000 Place Matters grant in 2015 from the Center for Great Neighborhoods of Covington. We used part of the funds for the Licking River Greenway Trail walk, and sponsored a bingo night at the Golden Towers Retirement home. The funds will also help support our annual White Cane Safety Day celebration, planned for October 15 at the Covington Police Station.

In 2014 NKCB received a $2,000 Place Matters grant. We hosted a family day on the Licking River Greenway Trail in May and White Cane Safety Day in October. Two NKCB members attended the 2014 ACB national convention, thanks to this financial assistance.
