Volunteer at the convention
Sixty to seventy people from Kentucky and southern Indiana are expected to attend the Kentucky Council of the Blind 53rd Annual Conference and Convention in person, November 19-21, 2026, with more participating on Zoom. Most attendees will be blind or visually impaired, and volunteers make the weekend work. Thank you for your willingness to help.
What volunteers do
Volunteers serve as guides in the public areas of the hotel and in the exhibit area, assist with serving meals and snacks, and assist with voting in the Saturday afternoon business meeting.
Shifts
Two to three volunteers are needed at each of the following times. The greatest need is the 3:30-7:30 PM shifts on both days.
Friday, November 20
- 7:30-11:30 AM
- 11:30 AM-3:30 PM
- 3:30-7:30 PM
Saturday, November 21
- 7:30-11:30 AM
- 11:30 AM-3:30 PM
- 3:30-7:30 PM
Important details
- A brief orientation on assisting a person who is blind or visually impaired is provided as needed at the beginning of each shift.
- Volunteers must be at least 13 years old. KCB cannot accept responsibility for supervising volunteers under 18; under-age volunteers should be accompanied by a parent or adult group leader. No babies or small children, please.
- Dress code is business casual: be clean, hair neat, dress appropriate. No halters, cut-offs, or short shorts. Underwear must not be showing, and excessively baggy pants are not permitted. Shoes and shirts are required.
