Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Carla Ruschival reported the checking account balance at the end of September. Since she did not have a complete report prepared, Elaine Weisbard made a motion to delay the treasurer’s report until November. The motion was seconded by Gerry Slusher and approved.

Old Business

Carla reported she will try to post the convention highlights, including wording for the proposed convention dress code, early tomorrow.

President Debbie Deatherage encouraged board members to contribute door prizes or provide a sponsorship for the upcoming state convention. Rick Boggess indicated that SAVI plans to bring a door prize.

President Debbie Deatherage reported some donations, including the KCB donation, to the KSB Bill Roby Track and Field Games were acknowledged during the ceremony but were omitted from the press release and not printed on the shirts. We will express our concerns with the hope this can be avoided in the future.

New Business

After some discussion, Carla made a motion that KCB provide a $75 stipend for any member attending the KCB convention from outside the Louisville metro area. Shirley Stivers seconded the motion which was approved.

In keeping with the convention theme, Carla Ruschival suggested Saturday’s Ball Park Lunch include pulled pork sandwiches. The idea was well received.

Carla proposed an idea to allow chapters to raise some money at the KCB Convention auction on Saturday night. After discussion, she made a motion that 50% of the proceeds from the sale of auction items donated by chapters or by individuals specifying a chapter be returned to that chapter. The motion was seconded by Shirley Stivers and approved. Carla indicated it would be nice to have a list of auction items the week before.

Announcements and Adjournment

Carla Ruschival reminded the board the state Rehabilitation Council will meet on October 27. Committee meetings begin at 9:30 with the full meeting starting at 11:15. More than likely there will be some discussion about agency merger. Hopefully there will be a quorum. Some seats have still not been filled. There has been a ruling that a quorum is based on the total number of seats, not the number filled. Therefore, thirteen is a quorum.

Elaine Weisbard made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Rick Boggess and unanimously approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:43 PM.
